Advocate Gerrie Nel to Prosecute Senzo Meyiwa’s Case
AfriForum has announced that Advocate Gerrie Nel, head of its private prosecution unit, will act as counsel on behalf of the Meyiwa family, and help investigate the death of Senzo Meyiwa.
The former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was shot dead at actress Kelly Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus in 2014, in an alleged robbery incident.
Five years later, the killers have still not been caught – so, the Meyiwa family made an appeal to AfriForum for them to help unravel the mystery surrounding Senzo’s death.
The civil rights organization accepted the call to represent the family and appointed advocate Gerrie Nel as the counsel.
Paul O’Sullivan, a renowned private investigator with more than 45 years experience in investigations, has also offered his services to AfriForum to try and bring closure to the Meyiwa family.
Kelly Khumalo is feeling the heat with all new developments to the case – with people accusing her of hiding information from the police.
However, the singer says that society has already found her guilty and therefore there’s no point to defend herself anymore. She said: “Why should I defend myself? They must believe what they want to believe. God and I know the truth.”
