AKA and DJ Zinhle: The Breakup that Keeps Trending

The South African Twittersphere is currently involved in a “Twar” between rapper AKA and DJ Zinhle.

Whenever the one music personality takes to social media, the other trends and the gossip mill goes into overdrive – this has occurred ever since their very public break-up last month, after three years of dating.

The 32-year-old rapper – real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes – mentioned on Twitter on Tuesday, 18 February, that he had been single since 2019. Many social media users took the tweet cynically.

One commented: “You just want to trend.”

Another said: “The only single we know is the albums you release.”

So far, DJ Zinhle has yet to make any comment on the Twitter heat, but her fans have been defending her regardless. Some have even said that the “Jika” hitmaker was humiliating her with his online antics.

The flurry comes after AKA enjoyed a romantic Valentine’s weekend in Cape Town with his new fling, Nelli Tembe. The couple were recently seen frolicking around the V&A Waterfront, and sharing much PDA.
