AKA Slammed for US Protest Tweets

June 01, 2020

Rapper AKA has landed in hot water after tweeting his thoughts about the demonstrations that are currently happening in the United States of America.

These nationwide demonstrations – which have ranged from silent protests, to looting and clashes with the police – began after an African American man named George Floyd was killed by four police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, 30 May, a seemingly bemused AKA wrote: “People of ALL colors [sic] burning down black owned [sic] businesses in Atlanta … when asked why, they reply … Black Lives Matter [sic].”

He subsequently tweeted: “African Americans … come home. Simple as that.”

Evidently, followers were not impressed with Supa Mega’s remarks, with one writing: “You think racism will end by black people leaving a country they’re born in and leaving it for whites only? That would only make white supremacy more powerful.”

Another commented: “To a xenophobic South Africa? Where fellow blacks are killed without justification or recuse to due process?”

AKA has yet to respond to the backlash.
