AKA’s Management Dismisses Record Label Reports
The management team for rapper AKA has shot down claims that he has joined another record label.
The 32-year-old “Victory Lap” hitmaker formed part of the “#AKAJoinsAmbitious” hashtag that topped South Africa’s Twitter trending list on Tuesday, 7 July
The hashtag started trending after reports arose that AKA – real name Kiernan Forbes – had signed with Ambitiouz Entertainment, which is currently home to musicians such as Blaq Diamond, La Sauce and Kid Tini.
Despite the many reactions, comments and memes about the supposed move, Raphael Benza – head of AKA’s management team – emphasised that his client was still signed to Sony Music South Africa.
Benza gave his opinion on the hashtag to a media outlet: “I believe it’s fan-generated fun.”
A bemused AKA also voiced his thoughts on the hashtag, writing on Twitter the same day: “AKA joins Ambitious [sic]? How strange. How did this start trending?”
When it comes to record labels, it looks like AKA is going nowhere – for now!
