Arno Greeff Quits Acting
After a decade-long career that made him a household name in South Africa, actor Arno Greeff has officially announced his retirement from the television and film industry.
The 31-year-old Blood & Water star revealed the news yesterday, 12 March, citing a complete loss of interest in the craft.
“I’ve lost my passion for it,” Greeff said. “I don’t want to be on set anymore; I don’t want to read scripts. I’ve realised that I was doing it for the wrong reasons for a very long time.”
Greeff first broke onto the scene in 2012 with a role in the film Verraaiers before becoming a staple of Afrikaans television in soaps like Binnelanders and Getroud met Rugby.
However, it was his role as Chris Ackerman in the Netflix global hit Blood & Water that catapulted him to international fame.
Reflecting on his 12-year journey, Greeff admitted that the high-pressure environment of the industry finally took its toll.
“It’s a gruelling industry, and if your heart isn’t 100% in it, you’re doing a disservice to yourself and the production,” he noted. While he has not yet confirmed his next move, he hinted at a shift toward business and behind-the-scenes creative work, areas he has explored previously as a director and videographer.
