Arnold Vosloo: From Pretoria Stage to Global Stardom
South African-born actor Arnold Vosloo has spent over four decades captivating audiences across the world with his onscreen performances.
Born in Pretoria, Gauteng, to stage actor parents, he began his career in theatre, earning multiple awards for standout performances in “More Is ’n Lang Dag”, “Don Juan”, and “Torch Song Trilogy”.
After moving to the United States, Vosloo’s talent found new audiences on Broadway, where he starred alongside Al Pacino in Salome. Reflecting on that experience, he said: “It just doesn’t get any better than that – to be on Broadway in a big production, and Al Pacino is the star.”
Hollywood soon followed, with memorable turns as Imhotep in “The Mummy” films and as Zartan in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”. On television, he has appeared in “24”, “Bosch”, “The Blacklist”, and “Jack Ryan”.
Returning home, Vosloo embraced local storytelling with the 2022 Netflix drama, “Ludik”, calling it the role he “enjoyed playing the most.”
Now splitting his time between South Africa and North America, he continues to balance international acclaim with pride in his home roots: proof that his craft, like his journey, knows no borders.
