Arrest Warrant Issued for Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha

A warrant of arrest has been issued for gqom star, Babes Wodumo, and her boyfriend, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, after they failed to appear at Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday morning, 9 July.

In March, Mampintsha turned himself over to the police, after an Instagram Live video of him allegedly physically assaulting Wodumo – real name Bongekile Simelane – emerged on social media. He was released on R2 000 bail.

Despite Mampintsha being ordered to keep away from Wodumo, the pair have apparently rekindled their romance. They also reportedly agreed to undergo relationship counselling.

Appearing in court on Tuesday, 9 July, Mampintsha’s lawyer, Pat Magwaza, said that he had arrived late after he attempted to locate the couple.

He explained: “I was told they were at their home. I have not seen them or spoken to them. I cannot get hold of them.”

For no-showing their court appearance, the magistrate authorised a warrant for their arrest.

This is Wodumo’s second warrant of arrest in recent months – in April, she failed to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on a separate assault charge.
