Babes Wodumo Drops Assault Charges Against Mampintsha

Gqom star, Babes Wodumo, has officially dropped charges of assault against her boyfriend, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.

Charges of common assault were first brought against Mampintsha in March, after an Instagram Live video of him allegedly physically assaulting Wodumo – real name Bongekile Simelane – emerged on social media.

Rekindling their romance after Mampintsha was released on R2 000 bail, they also underwent relationship counselling at the non-profit organisation, Family and Marriage Society of South Africa (FAMSA).

After failing to appear at Pinetown Magistrate’s Court earlier this week, the couple made their appearance on Thursday, 11 July, so that Wodumo could withdraw the charges.

Natasha Kara, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, confirmed the withdrawal, saying that the couple had successfully committed to undergoing their counselling sessions at FAMSA.

Wodumo and Mampintsha have yet to publicly comment on the charges being dropped.
