Babes Wodumo Faces Ban From Mom-in-Law’s Funeral

January 20, 2023

Babes Wodumo and her mother-in-law may have tentatively made peace prior to the latter’s passing, but it seems like the rest of the Gumede family allegedly aren’t willing to forgive and forget just yet.

Last Sunday, 15 January, Zama Gumede passed away after suffering a minor stroke – nearly a month after her son, rapper Mampintsha, also suffered a fatal stroke. Gumede’s memorial service will take place today, Friday 20 January, before she will be laid to rest at KwaMashu L. Hall in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal on Saturday, 21 January.

However, according to reports, Wodumo – who was criticised for her mourning process – has been banned from attending the funeral proceedings.

Exacerbating these rumours are comments made by Mapintsha’s sister, Pinky Gumede, who claimed that Wodumo never visited her mother-in-law in hospital, and that her behaviour impacted the 64-year-old’s health.

“What complicated things were the videos she kept posting on social media, sometimes even insulting the family,” Pinky said in a recent interview. “My mother saw all of that and it worsened her condition. I feel she died with a broken heart. But she’s at peace now.”

Neither Wodumo nor the Gumedes have commented on these reports yet, but it’s only a matter of time before drama erupts once again.
