Babes Wodumo “Free from that Controlling Monster”

Gqom star, Babes Wodumo, raised eyebrows over the weekend after tweeting out that she has left an “abusive relationship”.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, 15 September, the “Wololo” hitmaker – real name Bongekile Simelane – wrote: “Moving on from kwi Abusive [sic] relationship is not easy. I’m finally free from that controlling monster.”

In a follow-up tweet, the 25-year-old singer added in isiZulu: “Angazi ukuthi ungi shayelani (I don’t know why you are/he is hitting me).”

Neither the first nor second tweets name the abuser in question.

These tweets come six months after an Instagram Live video of Wodumo’s 37-year-old boyfriend, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, allegedly assaulting the songstress emerged on social media.

Soon, however, the couple rekindled their romance after Wodumo withdrew the charges of assault against him.

Wodumo has to comment publicly on the recent messages posted on her Twitter account, which she previously claimed was hacked. Last month, she accused hackers of using her account to leak a video of her insulting fellow musician, Lady Zamar.
