Babes Wodumo to Sue Tha Simelane

Gqom singer, Babes Wodumo, is planning to take legal action against socialite Tha Simelane, who alleged that she used drugs during an Instagram Live interview.

On Thursday evening, 4 June, Simelane held an emotionally-charged interview with Wodumo, who admitted to being drunk. However, when their talk ended, the socialite claimed that the “Wololo” hitmaker had been taking cocaine.

Although Simelane apologised for his remarks, Wodumo – who initially accepted his apology – is now suing him for defamation of character.

According to reports, Wodumo has officially opened a criminal case against Simelane at the Westville Police Station in Durban. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele, confirmed that a defamation case had been opened.

Speaking to a media outlet, Wodumo explained: “That hurtful statement was damaging to my brand and my entire family was left broken, so we decided with my manager to take action against [Simelane].”

However, Simelane remains apologetic, saying that “there is no need to escalate this drama”, and that he takes “responsibility for what I said.”
