December 30, 2020

Rapper Cassper Nyovest has been thoroughly dragged across all of Twitter after calling President Cyril Ramaphosa “dude” in a tweet.

The 30-year-old record producer was commenting on the president’s televised address on Monday evening, 28 December, regarding the government’s updated plans to combat the coronavirus.

Referring to the country’s head of state in a tweet, Nyovest said: “This dude looks like he is crying. Like I feel for him. This is genuine.”

Many on the social media platform felt the tweet was disrespectful, and made their feelings heard.

One user said: “You can’t call the president of the country “dude” he isn’t your friend.”

While others took the opportunity to point out his other flaws, as one person tweeted about his gigs being full and contributing to new cases.

They said: “Cass [sic] we love you, but you are also not careful, your performances are always full”

In his defence, Nyovest responded by saying that he saw “fault” in himself.
He also said: “This is why I don’t like debating on Twitter. You can never be right and people don’t read to understand but rather read to respond.”
