Dapper Live Sets Official Guinness World Record
On Monday, 9 March, 2026, Guinness World Records (GWR) officially confirmed a historic milestone for the global music scene: Dapper Live has set the record for the largest orchestra for an Afrobeats concert.
The record-shattering achievement took place during “Trench Symphony: The Dapper Live Experience,” a landmark event held on 16 December, 2025, at the Balmoral Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.
An 85-piece orchestra, conducted by musicians from the Perfect 4th Ensemble, merged classical instrumentation with the contemporary pulse of Afrobeats and Fuji. The performance featured prominent artists including T.I Blaze, Rybeena, and Fuji legends King Saheed Osupa and KS1 Malaika.
Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi, Group CEO of Dapper Group, described the project as a testament to the genre’s evolution.
“Trench Symphony was born from a simple but powerful belief: that African music, in its truest and most authentic form, belongs on the world’s biggest stages,” Akinwunmi stated. He added, “We did not set out simply to break a record; we set out to create a defining cultural moment.”
Following the verification, organisers celebrated the feat on social media, declaring, “We didn’t just stage a concert. We rewrote the record books. Culture. Precision. History.”
Dapper Live plans to take the production on a global tour across Nigeria, Europe, and North America throughout 2026.
