Deli Malinga Thanks Fans for Financial Aid
Actress Deli Malinga says she “will not forget” all the generous souls who provided her with financial support.
Last month, the “Umkhokha: The Curse” star revealed that she had bagged a nomination in the “African Female Actor of the Year” category at this year’s Ladies In Media Awards, which was held in Kenya. However, she lacked the funds to travel to the event.
“I wish I could go there. I’m trying everything,” the 59-year-old actress said in a video clip posted to Instagram at the time. “I’ve sent so many emails to different people. I need to get a meal allowance, pay for my visa, flights, accommodation and pay for the tour guide that they chose for us.”
In response, fans who were touched by her appeal contributed donations to Malinga, enabling her to travel to Kenya, where she ultimately won the esteemed award.
In a recent interview with a local media outlet, Malinga expressed her gratitude towards those who gave what they could to make the journey to the ceremony in East Africa possible.
“I would not have had that experience if it was not for all the people who helped me,” she said. “l would like to say thank you so much for the assistance and to those who supported me. I will not forget.”
