DJ Fresh Won’t Apologise for Foul Mouth

July 08, 2019

Three weeks after being suspended by Metro FM for using foul language on live radio, Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane will not apologise for his behaviour.

The radio personality was taken off the airwaves for swearing while responding to a call-in listener while hosting his morning radio segment, “Fresh Breakfast,” on 20 May.

Soon after, a complaint was laid by another listener with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA), leading to DJ Fresh’s suspension.

According to reports, the BCCSA recently found the SABC – home to Metro FM – guilty of using foul language on air.

As a result, DJ Fresh was allegedly ordered by the public broadcaster to stay home for two weeks before returning to work on 15 July. He was also instructed to apologise for his behaviour on air.

However, his lawyers responded: “We are refusing your decision to have our client apologise on air and we advise you to reinstate our client with immediate effect, failure of which we intend to consider legal action against the SABC.”
