DJ Tira Suffers Injury During Gig

DJ Tira says he is not immediately looking to press charges after he was struck in the face with a bottle during a performance over the weekend.

The “Uthando” hitmaker was performing on Saturday, 17 August, at the University of Venda’s All Black party in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, when the incident occurred.

In a recent interview with a media outlet, DJ Tira explained: “The crowd had a lot of energy. To my surprise, [after] 15 minutes on stage, a bottle was thrown at my face, and that was the end of my performance.”

Despite sustaining a cut below the eye, the music producer does not plan to open a case against the attacker yet.

He said: “I might end up opening the case as time progresses. I want to focus my energy on positive things, like celebrating my birthday and my album launch this week.”

Meanwhile, the university’s student representative council identified the attacker as an EFF Students Command presidential candidate and oppositional cabinet member, who purposefully tried to sabotage the event.

The council offered an apology to DJ Tira and promised that the attacker will be dealt with.
