Fans Drag Mohale Motaung for Landing Acting Job
Mohale Motaung is facing backlash after it was announced that he had bagged a guest role on the popular soapie, “Rhythm City”.
On Monday, 28 September, entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela, revealed on Twitter that the 26-year-old socialite will be playing the role of Kudzo, a “fly-by-night investor” who will only appear “for a few episodes.”
However, Mphela’s news provoked negative responses from tweeps, who criticised Motaung for his lack of acting credentials and for taking the role away from other aspiring actors.
One user scathingly wrote: “So a gutless, talentless boy who doesnt [sic] even know any adjectives gets an acting role. This is an insult to those who go to art schools like NSA, Afda etc [sic] to study hard for such.”
Another user wrote: “He was a teacher not so long ago, now he’s an actor. I won’t be surprised if he’s a rapper in December.”
Other users also speculated that he only got the role because of his marriage to entertainment icon, Somizi Mhlongo.
Motaung makes his debut on “Rhythm City” tonight, Wednesday 30 September.
