South African spiritual healer, Gogo Manzini,, will be laid to rest in a heartfelt two-day ceremony held in near Johannesburg, Gauteng, this weekend.
The beloved sangoma and media personality – born Tyra Sindane – passed away last Thursday, 5 June, following a brief illness, as confirmed by her family via Instagram on the same day.
Celebrations of her life will begin tomorrow, Saturday 14 June, with an Umgidi We Zangoma, an overnight traditional gathering where fellow healers will sing and dance in her honour. Her body will journey from Springs to Sandton before resting overnight on a farm in Benoni during the all-night vigil.
On Sunday, 15 June, a formal funeral will be held in Benoni, with burial to follow at Secunda Cemetery in Mpumalanga. In keeping with Gogo Manzini’s wishes, mourners are requested to wear all white.
Known for her vibrant personality, healing work and recent public transformation journey, the late socialite’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief across Mzansi. Although false rumours suggesting that she was still alive have circulated, her husband Brian Sindane firmly dismissed them and encouraged the public to focus on remembering her life.
The family has asked for privacy as they prepare to bid farewell to a woman who touched many lives through spirituality, compassion, and community work.
