Funke Akindele’s New Film Poised for Success
Nollywood icon Funke Akindele is generating major buzz with her upcoming comedy-drama, “Everybody Loves Jenifa”, which is slated for release in Nigerian cinemas on Friday, 13 December.
The film, which blends nostalgia and humour, has already sold out its United Kingdom premiere next Friday, 20 December, prompting distributors Nile Media Entertainment to “add more screens.”
The 47-year-old actress and producer, confident in the film’s success, boldly predicted it would earn ₦5 billion, far surpassing the ₦1 billion record set by her previous blockbuster, “A Tribe Called Judah.”
Akindele made this optimistic claim via social media in a lively video with the film’s cast, further fuelling excitement among fans.
The premiere in Lagos, Nigeria, was a star-studded affair, attended by top Nollywood figures, who also showcased the west African country’s rich cultural heritage through the traditional attire worn by attendees.
Featuring a stellar cast that includes Nancy Isime, Falz, Stan Nze, and Jackie Appiah, “Everybody Loves Jenifa” is shaping up to be another masterpiece from Akindele, cementing her status as the queen of Nollywood hits.
With international distribution spanning six continents, the film is poised to break new ground and set a new global standard for Nigerian cinema.
