Hey Neighbour Faces Online Heat Over Unpaid Refunds
The once-celebrated “Hey Neighbour Festival” is under mounting pressure as furious fans seek recourse over unpaid ticket refunds.
After the 2025 edition was abruptly cancelled due to funding issues, festivalgoers say organisers have gone silent, leaving thousands irate and out of pocket.
A TikTok user revealed she had filed a small claims case in Cape Town, Western Cape, after months of unanswered refund requests for her R10 000 VIP tickets.
“This is not fun. I just filled [in] this application and emailed a copy to Hey Neighbour, but that means I’ll have to go to Pretoria to sort this out,” she told her followers on Tuesday, 21 October, describing the strain of pursuing the matter while studying.
Another attendee, Luthando Maphanga, recently voiced his anger to a local publication, saying: “Maybe business didn’t go well, just be honest with people and tell them that ‘guys, I used the money to pay Doja Cat’ but don’t be silent and shut down your website.”
Despite organisers’ promises that refunds are being processed and tickets remain valid for a 2026 comeback, fans claim they have yet to see any money, prompting a wave of online outrage and possible growing legal action.
