Hey Neighbour Festival Scraps 2025, Eyes 2026 Return

October 02, 2025

The much-anticipated “Hey Neighbour Festival” has officially scrapped its 2025 edition, leaving fans frustrated but hopeful for a stronger comeback in 2026.

Initially planned for August with a star-studded line-up featuring Doja Cat, Black Coffee, Khuli Chana, Elaine and more, the event was moved to December before being cancelled altogether on Tuesday, 30 September.

The decision follows a series of delays and changes that had already left festivalgoers questioning whether the event would go ahead. Organisers explained that cancelling the event was necessary to preserve the festival’s identity.

Chief executive Glen Netshipise told a local publication: “Rushing the process with current constraints would compromise the very heart of what makes this event special. This difficult but necessary decision allows us the time to build a solid foundation for a spectacular celebration in 2026.”

Ticket holders – some of whom had complained of poor communication around refunds – will be contacted directly. Those who wish to keep their passes will be able to use them for the next edition.

Launched in 2023 with headline performances from Kendrick Lamar, H.E.R. and Khalid, the festival set a high bar. Fans now wait to see if its promised 2026 return can live up to that legacy.
