Idris Elba Reunites AKA & Burna Boy for COVID-19 Concert
Burna Boy and AKA are set to put aside their differences as both artists will headline the upcoming Africa Day Benefit Concert.
The virtual event will be hosted by Idris Elba, alongside some of Africa’s biggest music stars to raise funds to support people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa.
The two-hour concert will be broadcast around the world on MTV channels as well as the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel on Monday, 25 May.
Elba took to Twitter on Saturday, 16 May, to announce the star-studded line-up for the concert, which includes our very own Sho Madjozi, AKA and Nasty C. Also in the line-up are Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Teni, legendary Grammy-winning singer, Angelique Kidjo, and Tanzania’s multi-award winner, Diamond Platnumz, will also perform.
The “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” actor says that he’s taking the time to create awareness around African arts and to encourage Africans to unite and help each other during these tough times.
Elba said: “Taking a moment to shine a light on African arts to benefit the African homeland and its people. A continent of this size should find a way to dig deep and stand up for one another at a time like this. It’s important for the future and history will not forget.”
