Is “Isibaya” Getting Cancelled?
Rumour has it that “Isibaya” is about to be canned.
The popular soapie – which first began airing on DStv channel, Mzansi Magic, in 2013 – centres around the Zungu and Ndlovu families, who are fierce rivals in the notorious South African taxi industry.
“Isibaya” has launched the careers of many favourite actors and actresses, including Nomzamo Mbatha, Jessica Nkosi and Mdu Gumede.
Despite enthralling viewers with captivating storylines for seven years, it now appears that the show’s viewership is steadily declining.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, 7 October, entertainment commentator, Phil Maphela, lifted the lid on the potential fate of “Isibaya”.
He wrote: “Word is, the @Mzansimagic [sic] show’s fate is in limbo. Sources tell me that the show is on the brink and barring any change in fortunes, it will be cancelled.”
Neither Mzansi Magic nor Bomb Productions – the production company behind “Isibaya” – have publicly commented on the cancellation rumours.
