Kelly Khumalo Allegedly Quits Lebo Mathosa Biopic

October 14, 2019

Singer Kelly Khumalo has reportedly pulled out of a role in the upcoming biopic about the late pop star, Lebo Mathosa.

Khumalo – who was set to play the adult version of Mathosa in the six-part docu-series, “Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story” – apparently ditched the role due to being “unhappy” with her salary.

An insider explained to a local media outlet: “[Khumalo] has been complaining to the producers about how unhappy she was with the money she was offered, but I guess they failed to meet her demands. So this might be one of the reasons she left.”

However, another source claims that the “Asine” hitmaker’s diva-like behaviour – including making difficult demands on set and not sharing wardrobe items with other actors – actually got her fired from the production that’s planned for release later this year.

As a result, singer and actress Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane has allegedly been roped in as Khumalo’s replacement.

Meanwhile, Khumalo’s management said they were not in a position to comment, but that their client will tell her side of the story when she is ready.
