Khanyi Mbau Shuts Down Skin Critics

Actress Khanyi Mbau has clapped back at social media trolls who have criticised her physical appearance.

The floodgate for negative comments and memes was opened when Mbau – who is well-known for undergoing skin-lightening and surgical procedures – uploaded pictures from a recent photoshoot to her Twitter account on Wednesday, 26 June.

Users were quick to make fun of Mbau’s extremely fair complexion, but the “Happiness is a Four-letter Word” star did not take the insults lying down.

On Thursday, 27 June, Mbau posted a series of tweets in which she fired back at her critics.

She said: “Remember that I am not a nanny, I am not here to raise your kids…find a better role model for them [sic]. Secondly I am not a therapist to help you cope in being black or African [sic]. Lastly I am a celebrity you have a choice to love me or hate me (although I prefer us being cool) [sic].”

Mbau added: “I AM STILL THE KHANYI YOU LOVE TO HATE! [sic] … Y’all forget that we r [sic] in this together! U [sic] gave me this fame!”
