Lebo Mathosa Biopic: KB Motsilanyane Replaces Kelly Khumalo
Move over, Kelly Khumalo – actress and singer, Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane, will now be playing the part of Lebo Mathosa in the upcoming biopic about the late pop singer.
In a tweet sent out on Tuesday, 15 October, Viacom Africa confirmed that Motsilanyane has been cast as the adult version of Mathosa in the six-part docu-series, “Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story” – which is set to premiere on BET Africa on 6 November.
The tweet comes after Khumalo allegedly pulled out of the role over a salary dispute. However, sources claim that the “Asine” hitmaker was actually fired from the production because of her diva-like behaviour on set.
Speaking to a media outlet, an excited Motsilanyane gushed about being cast in the production.
She said: “It’s not an easy journey to play this character, because it’s beyond imagination, larger than life and every single thing is a new experience. Walking in [Mathosa’s] shoes is definitely one of the greatest things I have ever done.”
