Lira Hospitalised after Suffering Severe Stroke

Afro-pop singer, Lerato Molapo, popularly known as Lira, has been hospitalised after suffering a stroke while performing in Germany.

According to a family statement, which was also posted on the singer’s social media platforms, the sickness has afftected her speech; however, she is back in South Africa for treatment and is in good spirits.

The statement reads: “We would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently travelled to Germany for a performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke while there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular her speech, has been impacted.”

They added: “She is currently undergoing treatment here in South Africa, led by the best medical team available. Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term.”

Supporters and other entertainers in the industry took to social media to pray for the singer and wish her well on her road to recovery.
