“Love & Hip Hop South Africa” is Coming!

“Love & Hip Hop” is getting the Mzansi treatment!

The US-based reality show franchise – which chronicles the lives of hip-hop and R&B artists – is getting its own local version titled “Love & Hip Hop South Africa”.

According to Monde Twala, the senior vice-president and general manager of Paramount Africa and Lead BET International, the show will offer viewers an “exciting front-row seat to the real lives of some of South Africa’s most talented hip-hop stars making both local and international headlines.”

The cast will include big and upcoming names such as Da L.E.S, Yanga Chief, Gigi Lamayne, DJ Speedsta and much, much more.

“We are proud and excited to bring this global format to Africa,” said Twala. “The Mzansi version of the popular “Love & Hip Hop” franchise will have viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Da L.E.S also showed excitement for the show and what it will mean in the long run: “The current state of South African hip hop is beautiful, and this platform will really allow me to share my knowledge on the industry.

“We have a very rich, African hip hop culture, and I am looking forward to offering my space and showing the trials and tribulations I’ve been through in the industry. ‘Love & Hip Hop SA’ is the best place to do it.”

“Love & Hip Hop South Africa” is set to premiere on Monday, 27 February on MTV Africa at 21:30.
