Lynn Forbes Returns to Court as AKA Case Advances

November 27, 2025

Lynn Forbes made an emotional appearance at the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 25 November, as proceedings continued in the murder case of her son, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.

It was her first time attending court since the extradition of the Ndimande brothers, Siyabonga Gezani and Malusi Dave, who stand accused of killing AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane in February 2023.

A video shared on X/Twitter captured Lynn as she expressed heartfelt thanks to senior prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba and his team for their dedication.

“I really appreciate it … thank you very much; you are appreciated,” she said, acknowledging the long hours behind the investigation.

The brothers – who were arrested in Eswatini in 2024 – now face multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, and firearm offences. Their appearance this week led to the matter being postponed to 9 January 2026 to allow the defence to request additional information regarding the extradition process.

As the case progresses, Lynn’s presence in court highlights both her resilience and the family’s continued pursuit of justice nearly three years after AKA’s death.
