Mduduzi Ncube Departs Inkabi Records for Solo Career
Musician Mduduzi Ncube has officially left Inkabi Records to launch his independent label, Blvckbird, following the completion of his contract.
As the first artist signed to the stable founded by Big Zulu, Ncube played a pivotal role in defining the brand’s identity and securing its position within the South African music scene.
The transition is described as a mutual and amicable decision. Reflecting on the split, Ncube stated: “I want to thank Big Zulu for such a huge opportunity and for believing in me.”
He added that while it was a pleasure working there, he must now “embrace new opportunities.”
Inkabi Records confirmed that while Ncube is free to pursue new management, they retain the masters of his previous recordings. However, the singer will continue to benefit financially, receiving 40% of master royalties and 70% of publishing royalties.
Despite the change, the “Inkabi Nation” remains unified. The label recently celebrated its milestones at ZOR Restaurant & Lounge and has already announced new signings, including Starr Healer and Fanatic SA, to continue its mission of talent development.
