Metro FM Suspends Dineo for Umlando Dance Challenge
Metro FM has allegedly suspended media personality, Dineo Ranaka, for filming herself doing the latest viral challenge, #UmlandoChallenge, on top of office furniture at the SABC studios.
The Umlando dance is a challenge which sees men and some women shake their hips, shirtless while dancing to “Umlando”, the Amapiano hit by Sir Trill, Lady Du and Slade.
Many South African celebs have taken part in this challenge, but unlike others, Ranaka danced while on work duty, and on top of the broadcaster’s furniture.
SABC’s group executive for corporate affairs, Gugu Ntuli, has confirmed the radio presenter’s suspension.
Ntuli said: “The SABC can confirm that Dineo Ranaka is not scheduled on Metro FM at this stage and as a matter of principle the corporation does not discuss matters relating to its independent contractors in public.”
The suspension has sent Twitter into a frenzy, with some users happy about the radio station’s decision, while others believe its culture and working environment is toxic.
