Metro FM’s Mo G is Unexpectedly Fired

August 01, 2022

If you go down to the Metro FM offices today, you’ll be in for a big surprise as presenter Mpho “Mo G” Modise will be nowhere in sight.

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) released a statement via Twitter on Saturday, 30 July, whereby they announced that Metro FM and Mo G will be parting ways “due to material breach of contract.”

The statement went on to read that Metro FM Business Manager, Kina Nhlengethwa, “will communicate in due course who will take over the show and [gave] a big thank you to the team that has held the fort during this period.”

Speculation for the cause of the contract termination has been flying around Twitter. However, the main theory at the moment appears to revolve around an altercation between him and the influencer Jabu Brown, which took place at the beginning of July.

Mo G was said to have borrowed his friend’s BMW X3 on 29 June, with a supposed agreement for him to return it two days later. A video taken on the 3 July shows the two in a fight over the car keys at Disoufeng, a pub in Soweto, Johannesburg.

The former presenter has yet to make a comment.
