Miss Universe Nominated for People’s Choice Award
Reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, has been nominated for a major accolade at this year’s E! People’s Choice Awards.
Per reports, the “African Social Star” category – established in 2019 – honours Africans who “continue to break barriers and put the continent on the map.”
Since her crowning in December 2019, Tunzi has been using her platform to raise awareness around gender-based violence and gender equality.
Taking to Twitter, the 27-year-old beauty queen revealed that she had been nominated for the category alongside the likes of rapper Sho Madjozi, Nigerian YouTuber Dimma Umeh, and Ghanian actress Lydia Forson.
Speaking to a media outlet today, Friday 2 October, Tunzi expressed her gratitude at being nominated.
She said: “It’s an absolute honour. For one, this is the second time ever that we are doing it. That is a huge deal. Secondly, because it’s people’s choice; you get nominated for the people, by the people. I think that’s what makes it even more special. So I’m so proud to be a part of it along with other incredible Africans.”
