Monique Disappointed Over Court’s Ruling in Favour of Maboe
A two-year court battle between media personality, Katlego Maboe, and ex-wife, Monique Muller, is finally over, however, the plaintiff has been left displeased with the South African justice system.
On Monday, 31 January 2022, Maboe’s publicist, Lerato Maleswena, confirmed that the court had dismissed the domestic violence case and set aside the protection order against the former face of OUTsurance.
Maleswena further said that the TV presenter is happy as the most important thing is having access to his son, although it now has to be on a routine basis.
Elsewhere, Muller was left fuming over the justice system, saying that the duration of the case took too long and left her unrepresented – as her attorney bills reached R1m and she could no longer afford them.
Muller said: “I feel saddened by the fact that during this whole process, I learned that the courts – especially the magistrate’s court – is not for victims. It is a stage for abusers and that’s where they thrive.”
She added: “There are so many loopholes in the system that allow abusers to do what Katlego and his team have done to me, like, for example, to have this case dragged for two years. To the point where my bills were more than R1m. They exhausted me financially and emotionally.”
