Created by producer Duma ka Ndlovu, the show first aired in April 1997, showcasing the richness of Tshivenda culture through compelling characters such as Chief Azwindini, Thandaza, and the Mukwevho royal family.

“Muvhango” has not only entertained but also educated, and inspired its loyal audience, leaving a lasting legacy in South African television history. Initially launched during South Africa’s democratic transition, the popular drama series highlighted a previously overlooked language and culture, earning its place as a national treasure.

The show’s creators have confirmed that its final episode will air on 8 August. From nostalgic Instagram tributes to heartfelt messages from fans and stars alike, it’s clear that the show has made an indelible mark.

While “Pimville Queens” is expected to fill its slot from 11 August, this is yet to be confirmed by the broadcaster.
