New Defense Team for Shebeshxt

Limpopo’s “President of the Streets,” Lehlogonolo Chauke, better known as Shebeshxt, is making a decisive move to secure his release from custody. Following a court appearance on Friday, 27 March, the Lekompo star has officially overhauled his legal strategy, enlisting a new high-profile defense team to launch a fresh bail application.

The rapper’s legal woes involve a mounting list of serious charges across multiple jurisdictions. Currently, he faces attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm following a 2024 incident where he allegedly stabbed a man in Polokwane.

Additionally, he is charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and discharging a weapon in a public place. These are compounded by a 2022 conviction for assault, for which he was serving a suspended sentence when the new allegations surfaced.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) remains firm in its opposition. Spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi reiterated the State’s concerns, noting: “The state will continue to oppose bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and the safety of the witnesses involved.”

His new counsel, Advocate Victor Nkhwashu, signaled a change in tactics outside the court on Friday, stating: “We believe there are new facts and changed circumstances that warrant the court reconsidering my client’s incarceration.”

With a formal bail hearing now set for 8 April, fans and legal experts are watching to see if this new defense can overcome the rapper’s history of alleged violent offenses.
