Shakira and Burna Boy Team Up

May 11, 2026

Global pop icon Shakira has officially announced her return to the world’s biggest sporting stage, revealing that Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy will feature on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem. The track, titled “Dai Dai” (an Italian expression meaning “Come on, come on!”), is scheduled for a global release on Thursday, 14 May 2026.

The announcement was made via a joint social media teaser with FIFA, filmed at Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium. In the clip, Shakira is seen dancing in a vibrant yellow outfit while holding the “Trionda”, the official match ball for the 2026 tournament, as Burna Boy’s signature harmonies blend with her Latin-pop vocals.

Confirming the collaboration, Shakira posted:

“From Maracanã Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready!”

This partnership marks Burna Boy’s debut on an official FIFA anthem and cements Shakira’s legacy as the “Queen of the World Cup,” following the historic success of 2010’s “Waka Waka.” The 2026 tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, officially kicks off on June 11 at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

This makes Burna Boy the second Nigerian artist to be featured on an official FIFA World Cup anthem. He follows Davido, who was part of the 2022 World Cup track “Hayya Hayya (Better Together).”
