Shona Ferguson Nominated for the 2021 HAPA Awards

The late Shona Ferguson has been nominated for a 2021 Hollywood and African Prestigious Award (HAPA) for his Netflix TV drama, Kings of Jo’burg.

Ferguson succumbed to COVID-19 related complications in July 2021, and Mzansi’s entertainment industry is still struggling to come to terms with his sudden death.

On Tuesday, 10 October, ​​the Kings of Jo’burg producer, Sabelo Mgidi, took to Instagram
to announce that the show had received several nominations, including Shona’s Best Lead in a Drama Series.

The news was followed by Connie Ferguson penning an open letter to her husband.

Connie wrote: “My dear husband, I always told you that you were my favourite actor to work with, and probably one of the most underrated in this country. Your talent was beyond!”

She added: “You will never be forgotten! EVER! I have always been proud of you, and you continue to make us proud beyond the grave! God is good. Bravo Mr Sho! Bravo!”

The 2021 HAPA will take place on Monday, 25 October, at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
