Somhale! Wedding of the Year Highlights

Alilili – Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung have officially tied the knot in a lavish traditional wedding, on Saturday, 28 September, at Motaung’s family home in Kibler Park, Johannesburg.

The Somhale wedding was one of the weddings almost everyone – both celebs and non-celebs have been looking forward to – and it turned out to be one of the most stunning and glamorous traditional unions Mzansi has seen in a long time.

Guests in attendance included local A-list celebrities such as Caster Semenya, Bonang Matheba, Cassper Nyovest, Vusi Nova, Pearl Thusi, and Julius Malema, to name a few.

The stylish fashionista, SomGaga, known for his sophisticated outfits didn’t disappoint his fans – he made several African inspired outfit changes.

The couple kicked off the day in Zulu attire, before changing into Sotho blankets, followed by all white, and bold red floral print suits, then black suits with gold embellishments, and finally the magical Egyptian-inspired outfits.

It was an extravaganza of note, with three massive cakes – a beautiful eight-tier centerpiece cake – standing in the middle of two five-tier chandelier cakes hanging from the ceiling.

And there was a name change! Motaung took to Twitter to reveal that his parents gave Somizi, a new name: “Kganya” as a gesture of acceptance as their son-in-law.
