South African Rapper Bravo Le Roux Passes Away Aged 30

The South African music industry is mourning the sudden loss of Khayelitsha-born rapper Bravo Le Roux, who passed away in Switzerland at the age of 30.

The news was confirmed in a family statement released via Instagram on Thursday, 22 January.

Born Sinesipho Peter in 1995, the artist was celebrated for his unique ability to fuse Xhosa lyricism with modern hip-hop. Throughout his career, he remained a vocal advocate for mental health, previously sharing his struggles with depression and the pressure to succeed.

His manager, Yonwabisa Mbete, noted his dedication to the next generation, stating: “He was a person who believed in bringing up young artists, to lift them up and show that there is success in music.”

While the specific cause of death remains undisclosed, tributes have been paid to his roles as a cultural ambassador and a devoted father. Describing his legacy, his family said: “Bravo Le Roux was a gifted creator, a proud ambassador of his community and an inspiration to emerging artists.”

The family has requested privacy while they arrange memorial services.
