The Fergusons Explain “The Queen” Firings

Acting veterans, Connie and Shona Ferguson, have finally responded to accusations about constantly firing on-screen talent from their telenovela, “The Queen”.

For the past few months, seven major cast members – including Khanya Mkangi, Khayakazi Kula and Rami Chuene – have either left or been fired from the show, which was created by the Fergusons in 2016.

Complaining about ill-treatment and unfair conditions while working on “The Queen” are rumoured to be the factors behind these actors’ terminations.

However, during a recent Instagram Live with cast member Themba Ndaba, the Fergusons explained the situation while responding to a fan’s question about why they keep firing talent.

Connie answered: “It’s a telenovela, okay? Characters come and go. That’s how soap [sic] operates. Sometimes … to introduce another story, but characters come and go. This is not something that is exclusive to “The Queen” … it happens everywhere all the time.”

Her husband added: “The reality of what we do is you are going to see new people in and out. It’s the nature of storytelling.”
