Tyla Makes History as Host of the 2025 Nickelodeon Awards

South African music sensation Tyla is poised to make history by hosting the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, becoming the first African to do so.

The 23-year-old Grammy-winning artist will take the stage on 21 June at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, promising a lively and fun-filled evening.

The “Water” hitmaker’s rise to international stardom has been nothing short of remarkable. She is also nominated for Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for “Show Me Love”, her track with WizTheMc and Bees & Honey.

Tyla’s impressive achievements include becoming the first African artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in over a decade and securing a Grammy nomination in 2024.

Having previously earned multiple nominations at the Kids’ Choice Awards, Tyla’s upcoming role as host marks a significant milestone for African talent. Fans can expect an exciting evening full of energy, charm, and perhaps even a few surprise moments as the “Pretty Girl from Jo’burg” brings her unique flair to the slime-filled stage.
