More awards are predicted to be coming Tyla’s way after she was nominated for not one, but FIVE awards at the 30th South African Music Awards (SAMAs).

On Thursday, 26 September, in an exclusive event held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng, this year’s SAMAs nominees were revealed, and the 22-year-old songstress scored herself nods in five categories.

Tyla has been nominated for Ukhozi FM Female Artist of the Year, alongside the likes of Brenda Mtambo, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Lordkez and Xolly Mncwango. She also received a nod in the SANTAM Newcomer of the Year category.

Additionally, Tyla has a chance of winning awards for SAMPRA (SA Music Performance Rights Association) Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for her self-titled album, as well as Best Collaboration for her track, “Water”, featuring American rapper Travis Scott.

Tyla has been on a roll this year: she bagged numerous international accolades including a Grammy, two BET Awards and an MTV Video Music Award.

The SAMAs will take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre on 2 November – here’s hoping that Tyla will bring home more trophies!
