Tyla Wows as Host and Winner at 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards

South African pop sensation Tyla stole the spotlight at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in California, where she made her debut as host and clinched the award for Favourite Global Music Star (Africa).

The 23-year-old singer opened the event on Saturday, 21 June, with a high-energy dance performance and entertained the crowd with playful antics, including a comical sketch featuring rapper Ice Spice.

In a memorable moment, she joined the ranks of A-listers by getting drenched in Nickelodeon’s signature green slime during the grand finale.

The evening marked a full-circle moment for the young Grammy winner, who once auditioned for Nickelodeon as a child. “This means the world to me – to represent Africa on a global stage and be recognised by all of you amazing kids out there,” she said during her acceptance speech.

Tyla’s fashion sense also turned heads, from a nostalgic butterfly-inspired yellow ombre dress to a relaxed cargo ensemble, perfectly capturing the summer vibe.
