Unathi Nkayi to Return to Kaya FM

February 03, 2020

It’s official: Unathi Nkayi will be returning to the airwaves, specifically to Kaya FM.

The “Idols SA” judge made the exciting announcement via her Instagram account on Saturday, 1 February.

In the video, the 40-year-old says: “This is a national service announcement. I’m so excited. I’m going home. I got the call and they said come home and I said oh my gosh already [sic].”

She added: “So I’ve decided to come back … I’ll see you in March. Which home? Home of the afropolitan Kaya FM.”

The news was met with enthusiasm from many, but there were a handful who thought that Nkayi’s’s return stood in the way of younger talent.

She was quick to clap back at her naysayers, stating: “People who obsess about age are people who are insecure about what they have achieved at their age.”

Nkayi was last involved in radio broadcasting three years ago, then she decided to take a break, citing emotional reasons for her leaving the industry. She will be taking over Bridget Masinga’s show on Kaya FM from March onwards.
