Ye Postpones SA Show, Fires Promoter
The long-awaited “Ye Live in South Africa” concert, originally scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, Gauteng, on 13 December, has been officially postponed amid significant controversy.
Ye’s company, Yeezy LLC, confirmed the delay, stating the performance is being “expanded into a larger Yeezy-led production in South Africa” and is moving to a new, yet-to-be-announced date.
They also confirmed that they are “no longer working with the previously announced promoter on this project due to non-compliance”. The former promoter, the Monyake Group, had been under public scrutiny for a lack of communication and alleged failure to meet financial obligations to the 48-year-old musician’s team.
All tickets bought for the original date will receive a full refund via TicketPro. The postponement follows Ye’s recent concert cancellation in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which organisers blamed on venue issues and an unfavourable political environment.
Despite the setbacks, Yeezy LLC maintains that “Ye and the Yeezy team remain committed and excited to perform in South Africa”.
