Zodwa Wabantu Determined to Get “Lobola” Money Back

Fresh off cancelling her wedding, Zodwa Wabantu wants her “lobola” money back.

The 33-year-old entertainer – who proposed to her 24-year-old former boyfriend, Ntobeko Linda, in May – called off her wedding last Saturday, 27 July.

Just weeks after the proposal, Wabantu sent an all-female delegation to negotiate with Linda’s family for “lobola”, or “bride money” – or in this case, groom money.

Now that the wedding is off for good, Wabantu revealed in a recent interview that she wants Linda’s family to pay her back half of the lobola money.

She said: “We will have to split the lobola money in half. It’s only fair.”

As for the dress that she purchased for the wedding, Wabantu added: “I’m planning to wear it on the last episode of [my reality television show] “Zodwa Wabantu: Uncensored”.”

Wabantu did not indicate if she also wanted Linda to return his engagement ring, which she bought for over R5 000 and presented to him when she proposed.
