Zoe Mthiyana Allegedly Arrested for DUI

Zoe Mthiyane was allegedly arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend.

According to reports, the 39-year-old actress – who is well-known for playing Zitha on “Generations: The Legacy” – was arrested on Saturday, 7 December, in Johannesburg’s Douglasdale suburb.

Police spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, confirmed that an actress had been detained in relation to drunk-driving, but did not reveal her name

He explained: “I can’t name her [until she has pleaded in court] … the actress was released on bail and is expected to appear in court in due course.”

There have been rumours that Mthiyane suffers from a drinking problem, to the point that it interferes with her acting duties.

An anonymous source made a similar claim to a media outlet: “[Mthiyane] doesn’t pitch for work sometimes and when she does, she forgets her lines, which delays production because the scenes have to be dropped.”

Mthiyane is supposedly expected to appear in court on an unspecified date.
