Zoleka Mandela Splits from Hubby

Looks like the marriage between activist Zoleka Mandela and businessman Thierry Bashala is over.

Mandela – who is also the granddaughter of the late, former South African president, Nelson Mandela – and Bashala had been together since 2012, and they officially tied the knot in 2014.

Together, they share two children, with the youngest born in February last year.

Taking to Instagram recently, Mandela announced that she and her husband are separating.

In her post, she wrote: “Leaving someone you once loved for eight long years feels like it completely unhinges your entire life until you realise that it’s sparked self discovery, inner peace, and has set you on a path of self love. It’s taken me two years to leave a relationship that no longer serves me.”

Looking forward to a more liberating future, Mandela added that she now needs to “learn to be alone, to work on myself harder than any other relationship, to recognize [sic] and accept my weaknesses, to forgive myself and to finally celebrate my FREEDOM. [sic]”

Bashala has yet to publicly comment on the separation.
