Zolisa Xaluva Triumphs in R350K Battle Against Studio

July 21, 2025

Award-winning actor Zolisa Xaluva has emerged victorious in a legal showdown against Seriti Studios, securing a R350 000 payout following an arbitration ruling.

The dispute stemmed from unpaid salaries for his lead role in the 2024 Mzansi Magic series, “Code 13”. Despite contractual terms guaranteeing payment per shooting day, Seriti reportedly failed to settle dues for March and April of that year.

Xaluva took the matter to the Arbitration Association of Southern Africa, which ruled in his favour, citing breach of contract by the production house, which is also known for producing the television drama series, “Gomora”.

The case has sparked widespread discussion on Twitter/X. Many fans applauded Xaluva’s stand, with one user declaring: “Congratulations, Zo, they better pay up!”

While others expressed concern over potential industry backlash: “Fighting for your rights often leads to silent blacklisting.”

The actor’s victory has also raised questions about the treatment of less-established performers. One netizen asked: “If a well-known, established actor can go through this, who are we, the unknown?”

Xaluva’s win is being hailed not only as personal justice, but as a wake-up call for fair treatment across South Africa’s entertainment industry.
